Hey Cloudians!!!
I'm back with a new topic "Services of cloud". There are numerous services provided through cloud in which I talk about only 3 of them which are very famous and useful.
What is a "Service"🤔
When you offer any resources to a needy one it's called a service. Cloud offers resources in form of computing power, storage, network security etc.
If computers, storage etc are served as resource ,then it's known as "Infrastructure As a Service".
We all use Gmail which is hosted on cloud is an example of "Software as a Service".
If we want to develop any application inside the cloud we can use IDE(Integrated Development Environment) to develop softwares. Platform to develop them is provided by cloud providers. This is called "Platform As a Service".
Infrastructure As a Service(IaaS)
This is a popular service because of which cloud came into existence.
Think yourself as an OTT platform owner where you want to invest money more on film production rather than technical infrastructure. Another problem in this aspect is in OTT platforms there is heavy fluctuation in viewership which in result needs an increase in broadcasting capacity.
In the above situation, if they use on-premise infrastructure, they can't meet the demand if there is heavy traffic to a specific video. So, by IaaS, we can rent infrastructure as per our requirements and needs.
Examples are AWS EC2,Google Compute Engine
Platform As a Service(PaaS)
Its a service which is very helpful for developers where all the software development tools starting from IDE's ,servers to operating systems. It's a one-stop solution for them where they get everything on a single platform.
Examples are Google Cloud run, Heroku
Software As a Service(SaaS)
We use online pdf converters, image size reducers so many like this. All these are thirdparty softwares which are hosted on cloud and provided to users through internet.
Examples are Microsoft teams, Salesforce
I hope this blog gave you a great grip on basic services of cloud. In my next blog I will come up with roles associated to Cloud Service provider and users. Untill then, Update and Upgrade..
Happy Learning😊
